Civic Coalition to Save Lives was founded by the Philadelphia Foundation and William Penn Foundation in partnership with Urban Affairs Coalition, The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Equity Alliance to help catalyze a broad civic effort that will drive a focus on evidence-based and sustainable strategies to reduce gun violence in Philadelphia. Richman’s expertise will be integral to establishing, building, and implementing long-term, sustainable efforts to achieve that goal.
The Philadelphia Citizen, a nonprofit, non-partisan media organization has a dual mission: to provide deeply reported journalism that emphasizes solutions that can move our region forward, and to actively reignite citizenship in and around Philadelphia.
We seek to identify our innovators, call out those who stand in the way of progress and shine a light on the next generation of Philly leadership — all while giving Philadelphians the interactive tools they need to become more involved, engaged citizens.
Addressing the stigma of mental illness is important at any time, but particularly so now. The collective trauma the nation and especially under-resourced communities of color experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic impacted mental health profoundly. Long periods of social isolation and economic uncertainty overwhelmed many adults – particularly those with existing mental health challenges.
This ECS forum session will:
Suggest ways to address and overcome the stigma of mental health in low-income communities of color
Help people understand how culturally competent mental health providers of color can effectively serve communities
Make clear how to access mental health resources and programs in West Philadelphia and across the Philadelphia region
Coded by Kids provides young people between the ages of 8 and 18, from underrepresented groups with software development, digital design, computer science, and tech startup-focused entrepreneurship education programs.
